     NEW: Relaunch of Trichotillomania(TTM) Support Group!!!

OCD Ireland has relaunched a Support Group for sufferers of Trichotillomania(TTM), the purpose of which is to offer support/ information in confidential and non-judgemental surroundings to individuals suffering with the disorder.

The next meeting of the Support Group for TTM will be held on Tuesday, 14th February 2012, 7:30pm - 9pm (Every second Tuesday of the month) in Room B in St Patricks Hospital, James Street, Dublin

 

      Extra MONTHLY OCD Group continues in Janurary 2012!

To due a an increase in demand, OCD Ireland in cooperation with St Patrick's University Hosptital have started an extra monthly OCD group every first Tuesday of the month.       Information Centre...

St Patrick's Hospital have opened a new Information Centre, where you can purchase OCD related literature. The opening hours are 9am to 5pm. St Patricks Hospital is located on James Street in Dublin 2.

Please visit the Irish Council of Psychotherapy website to view a list of CBT therapists in Ireland. Go to Find a therapist. Choose the County you want & set Member to CBT & click Search. A list of accredited therapists in Ireland and Britain can also be found on the BABCP website.

 

      New Mental Health Support line at St Patricks!

The new Support and Information Line is a telephone service which is part of the ongoing development of the Wellness and Recovery Centre at St Patrick's University Hospital Dublin. It provides information on all aspects of Mental Health and is staffed by experienced Mental Health Nurses. Provides 9am to 5pm Answering and call - back service outside of these hours. OCD Ireland has started a new Support Group for sufferers of Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), the purpose of which is to offer support/ information in confidential and non-judgemental surroundings to individuals suffering with the disorder.

OCD Ireland wishes to emphasise that the above calendar is fixed for the year and all dates are pre-booked in co-operation with St-Patrick's Hospital at the beginning of the year. St-Patrick's reception and administration are not responsible for tracking the schedule of the above support group. Therefore we encourage interested parties and group participants to view the above calendar as the most authoritative source of information regarding group scheduling. The Dublin Support Group calendar takes into account Bank Holidays, amongst other national holidays. If groups are not scheduled to run within these periods, they are duly indicated in the Calendar. In exceptional circumstances a group meeting may be cancelled ( though this is very rare), however a notification will be placed on the OCD Ireland website indicating so.

      Parameters of OCD Ireland Support Groups

  • The support groups, which are closed groups, are only for sufferers who have these conditions now and for people who currently have concerns that they may be suffering from a particular disorder.
  • OR
  • These groups, which are closed groups are only for OCD, TTM and BBD sufferers. However, family members, friends, carers and any interested people are invited to attend any of the free public talks organised by OCD Ireland (information on this located here ).
  • All support groups are only for people who are 18 years or older.
  • We offer support and information only.
  • These groups are confidential. That means that each member of the group should feel safe to discuss personal matters. In order to make this a safe place, each group member must agree to respect the rights of the other group members, by agreeing not to discuss anything they hear in in the meeting room with people outside of this group.
  • Group Facilitators will be provided with training and supervision from affiliated professionals.
  • We request participants not to name any of their treaters or discuss their specific medication in order for focus to remain on support.
  • We may have to request a small donation for the cost of room, supervision, training, etc.
  • We do not provide any professional referrals or professional recommendations.
  • We do not endorse specific Practitioners, Psychiatrists, Psychotherapists, Treatments, and Medications.
  • If this is your first group, we suggest that you use this opportunity to observe how the group works and to actively contribute to future groups. This will help you see if this group meets your needs.
  • For any people who wish to do research on any of these groups then they must submit a detailed proposal to our ethics committee who will review it (the email address: info@ocdireland.org). No group members will have to participate with any research unless this is his/her choice nor will any research occur in any support group. These are closed groups.
